The fastest path from swampy to swim-ready.
North Texas brings its own variables: oak pollen for six weeks, calcium-rich source water, sub-freezing nights every winter, and summers that crank chemistry usage. The advice below is calibrated for those realities, not a generic national pool blog.
Day-by-day
- Day 1: Test, balance pH, run filter 24/7
- Day 2: Triple shock with cal hypo; brush hard
- Day 3: Treat phosphates; backwash filter
- Day 4: Second shock if water still turning blue
- Day 5: Clarifier + flocculant; vacuum to waste
- Day 6: Test combined chlorine; treat if elevated
- Day 7: Final balance + filter cartridge clean
Most rescues hit swim-ready by day 5. Day 6–7 is for stragglers and tough cases.
