DFW hard water leaves a chalky line at the waterline within months.
Seasonal pool care in North Texas is its own science. The advice below is calibrated to DFW pollen counts, freeze risk, hardness levels, and heat. Generic national pool advice gets you most of the way; the local nuance closes the rest.
The two methods
Mild (DIY)
- Pumice stone + manual scrub
- Vinegar paste on tile (off-pool surfaces only)
- Phosphoric acid tile cleaner
Aggressive (pro)
- Bead-blasting with food-grade glass beads
- Soda-blasting for delicate tile
- Acid-wash as last resort
Maintenance: lower calcium hardness toward 250 ppm and use a sequestrant monthly. Tile stays clean for years.
