DFW summers test pool chemistry like nothing else.
Pool ownership is a long-term partnership with chemistry, equipment, and weather. The advice below comes from working technicians who service hundreds of DFW pools every week.
The June checklist
- Increase chlorine output 25% on salt cells
- Test pH twice weekly — heat drives it up fast
- Check stabilizer (CYA) — replenish if below 30 ppm
- Pre-buy clarifier for peak-use weekends
- Inspect filter cartridge — clean once mid-summer
- Confirm pump runs minimum 10 hours daily
- Run robotic cleaner before pool parties
- Set freeze protection mode OFF (it's irrelevant in summer)
Doing this in early June prevents 90% of summer service emergencies.
