  1. Photograph the cell label and the panel

    The model number and the error on screen usually narrow it before we arrive, and it stops anybody selling you the wrong cell for your system.

  2. Test salinity independently

    Aging cells under report salt, which sends people to the store for bags they never needed. A meter reading settles that in one minute.

  3. Inspect the plates

    Scale looks like white crust and cleans off. Worn plates look thin, bare, or flaked, and nothing brings those back. You get a photo of yours either way.

  4. Check the supply and the flow switch

    A generator that will not produce can be a dead power supply or a stuck flow switch. Replacing the cell in that case fixes nothing and costs the most.

  5. Replace with the right size

    A cell undersized for your volume runs at maximum constantly and dies early. Matching it correctly is the difference between three years and seven.

    A cell that failed in two years failed for a reason, usually scale, low stabilizer, or sizing. Dropping a new one into the same conditions simply restarts the same clock.

How do I know if the cell is bad or just dirty?
